Vocal Director
Gayla has a rich and varied history of vocal direction, from serving as Music Director in theatrical productions to directing church choirs. She is well known in NYC choral circles as a specialist in workshops and master classes focused on a cappella choral singing for all ages and skill levels. (Scroll down for resumé.)
Most recently, from 2025–2026, Gayla served as the founding Vocal Director for Disney's new cruise ship, Adventure. She taught music and performance style, as well as vocal technique and health, to over 30 performers singing live music for 7 shows performed in multiple venues onboard.
Work for Disney began in Toronto, Canada, where Gayla rehearsed the premiere "A1" (for "Adventure 1") casts; rehearsals continued in Bremerhaven, Germany, while the ship was being readied for overseas travel; and she then sailed with the ship — without guests — as rehearsals continued from Germany to Florida, through the Panama Canal to California, then to Tokyo, and finally to the Adventure's new Home Port in Singapore, where it had its maiden voyage in March 2026.
She returned to Singapore in April 2026 to install the next cast, A2, as they began their regular rotations (every few months) with the A1 cast. The pictures below are of the A1 and A2 casts for the 7 shows Gayla provided vocal direction for on the Adventure:
